To round off the long summer evenings, there's nothing like enjoying the pool and its surroundings. Yes, but only if they're well lit! After all, convivial moments around the pool need to take place in complete safety, but also in a pleasantly lit atmosphere conducive to conversation and relaxation. The pool must be as beautiful by day as it is by night. That's why your choice of lighting is of paramount importance.
So, how do you create exceptional lighting around your pool? Here are a few ideas to help you find inspiration and enhance your pool.
The benefits of successful pool lighting
A swimming pool offers many advantages for a home. It enhances the exterior of a garden, adding a certain amount of added value. And when the lighting is right, the effect is simply outstanding. That's why more and more use is being made of pool surrounds.
Their lighting must first and foremost ensure safe access and define the contour, but it also has an aesthetic dimension that shouldn't be overlooked. When choosing your poolside lighting solution, you need to keep safety in mind, but not forget the aesthetic impact it will have on your pool and your entire exterior. Recessed pool lights, bollard lights, underwater spotlights, colored designer lighting... are just some of the solutions that will bring a unique charm and an ideal atmosphere to your pool.

Lighting solutions around the pool
For practicality's sake, you may prefer to illuminate the edges of your pool. It's always easier to work on a spotlight installed around the pool than on a light immersed in the water. There are several solutions for this.
12 V LED terminals
12V LED bollards have the great advantage of providing sufficient illumination, thanks to their scattering here and there around the pool, without blinding guests. What's more, they indirectly illuminate the water feature in a completely natural way. You can use them to mark and punctuate a walkway or the path leading to your pool, or install them at regular intervals around the pool. Lumihome has designed the Pyramide 12V bollard for this purpose: an elegant, timeless lighting solution, ideal for marking poolside terraces.

12V spotlights
Like 12V LED bollards, low-voltage spotlights are also widely used to illuminate pool surrounds, thanks to their practicality. Simply plug them in, and that's all there is to it. If your pool has a landscaped area, flowerbeds or plants nearby, you can plant a few piquet spotlights. They will indirectly illuminate the pool, without forgetting to create a discreet lighting effect and a subtle play of light and shadow.
Lumihome offers 12V spotlights specially designed for poolside lighting, or near water features. Their high light output provides pleasant, efficient illumination at poolside. "It's important to give preference to LED lighting solutions in wet environments. On the one hand, they enable significant energy savings, but they also give off very little heat, for an ideal level of watertightness."

12V recessed spotlights
Most swimming pools are surrounded by an attractive deck in wood, resin or concrete. So why not take advantage of this space to incorporate 12V recessed spotlights into the flooring and coping? You'll need to think about this before building your pool, but the aesthetic effect is incomparable. 12V recessed spotlights don't actually light up the pool, but are more suited to marking out the pool, ensuring the safety of guests and creating a warm atmosphere.
Lumihome offers high-quality 12V recessed spotlights for successful LED deck lighting. The range is available in three different sizes and three different wattages, to magnify the edges of water features in total elegance.

CCT RGB lighting: the perfect solution for successful pool lighting
To create an exceptional atmosphere around the pool, there are numerous lighting solutions. Waterproof lights, floating lamps, illuminated furniture, ethanol totems, string lights, fireplaces... the choice is wide, and more a matter of design than real lighting. However, it is possible to reconcile the two. That's what Lumihome has done with its range of 12V LED multi-color recessed spotlights. They feature RGB CCT technology for a colorful, original ambience that's entirely on command. In fact, you can control your lighting remotely with your remote control and play with the variations to suit your mood and the rhythm of the evening. Barbecue with friends, romantic midnight swim or nocturnal pool party? Choose the light that suits you and create a colorful atmosphere made to measure. Lumihome's RGB CCT 12V multi-color LED recessed spotlights combine energy savings with an ultra-fashionable ambience.

Focus on safety standards
Creating an aesthetically pleasing swimming pool lighting system shouldn't blind you to the safety requirements it entails. Water and electricity have never been good bedfellows, so it's important to take a few precautions.
Volumes
The volumes are defined to help you choose a type of luminaire according to the location. Volume 0 corresponds to the interior of the pool and foot bath. In this area, you can only install luminaires with a protection rating of 68. Volume 1 covers the entire area around the edge of the pool and the foot bath, over a distance of 2 meters long and 2.5 meters high. Luminaires with an index of protection equal to or greater than 65 are recommended. Finally, volume 2 adds 1.5 meters in length and 2.5 meters in height to volume 1. Here again, it's best to opt for luminaires with an IP rating of 65 or higher.
Feeding
Regardless of the space in which your luminaire will be installed, very low-voltage power is essential. And remember that the safety transformer must always be installed outside the volume, and inside a secure enclosure.
"Our range of 12V luminaires features special connectors that ensure a perfect seal. Easy to use and simple to connect, they can be installed without any tools, thanks to an ingenious screwing system called Easy Fix."

Functional and safe, pool lighting is essential to create a pleasant, friendly atmosphere in the garden. Lighting must therefore be carefully thought out, but above all, it must be studied from the outset of your pool project. The electrical installation, the layout of the solutions and the choice of lighting fixtures all need to be anticipated if you want the effect to live up to your expectations. Finally, for an exceptional result, don't hesitate to multiply the light sources.
